Bloemhof Experience: A Night for the Roses

Night for the Roses Postponed
New Date Friday January 13, 2023

The Night for the Roses cultural festival, originally November 11, which was partially merged with some musicians of the Cathedral of Thorns Concert for the Roses planned for November 4, which regretfully had to be cancelled, is again postponed. In Papiamentu we say 'El a kai na awa', literary translated: 'It fell in the water.'

In close consultation with the performers, and the Ride for the Roses Foundation, it was decided to organize a new Night for the Roses multitalented festival to launch the first post-covid Ride for the Roses fundraising season. In January 2023 the ride will be back and the artists will perform in the week leading up to the evens on Friday January 13. Please keep in touch via our social media to be informed.

Hòfi Cinema, Ride for the Roses Edition

Thursday October 27 | 7.30 pm

The monthly film evening of Landhuis Bloemhof Hòfi Cinema is dedicated to the grande dame of the theater Rina Penso. The film Mi ta Hasi mi Kos by Wilma Lighart, starring Rina Penso, will be shown, as well as part of a personal interview about her experiences with cancer that Boi Antoine conducted with her.

In the film "Mi ta hasi mi kos", the then 86-year-old Curaçao actress Rina Penso looks back on her life. The story is told by the people who saw her up close: colleagues, friends, family and by Rina herself. Rina often says "I didn't have a theater education; I didn't need to. I got "something" from God, I just do my thing ("Mi ta hasi mi kos"). In conversations with various directors, Rina is praised for her great talent and drive. One of them is Felix de Rooy: "A real diva, expressive, present; she can express great feelings and she has an enormous charisma in front of the camera and on stage. To me she is the Anna Magnani of the Caribbean ".

Tickets cost NAfl 25 and are only available at Landhuis Bloemhof. A part of the entrance revenues goes to the Ride for the Roses.

To Celebrate Curaçao pride 4 movies:

Watamula
Watamula is a place where Curaçao breathes. It is also the destination of René, who emerges from a river and staggeringly continues his journey across the island. He comes across sharp thorns and sweet rose petals, meets with rejection and comfort, clutching the amulet he was given at birth. Visual artist and filmmaker Kevin Osepa, for whom the identity of young Afro-Caribbeans is an important subject, moulds this trip into a magical-realistic panorama bringing together landscape and fate, spirituality, sensuality and machismo.

E Yobida di Ayera (2016)
Monica is in love with her friend. Today they are meeting at the beach, just the two of them. Monica has finally found enough courage; this seems the perfect time to tell her. Is this the day she comes out of the closet?

Premier
The 8-minute drama tells the story about the first black prime minister of the Netherlands (played by actor Raymi Sambo), who is not allowed by his party to be open about his homosexuality.

Atlantis: the Rebirth
